Students

All assignments, projects, and test information, including due dates, are posted in our Google Classroom. You will need to sign in with your GoTahoma email address (all one word and no spaces: First Initial, Last name, Last 3 numbers of your student ID @go.tahomasd.us) and password. Remember, Google Classroom is not a gradebook. In Google Classroom, I will grade or provide feedback on assignments once I've reviewed your work. You will need to check Skyward for scores and grades. Click the Class Information link along the left for my syllabus and other important information about our class.

Most of our live instruction will be done via Zoom.

Parents and Guardians

I post all assignments, projects, and test details, including due dates, in Google Classroom, which all students in my classes have access to from any device. Upcoming assignments and projects will also appear on the class calendar (dates are subject to change based, see left sidebar of this page). If you would like to subscribe to daily or weekly email summaries of what’s due and what’s on the horizon, send me your email address and and I’ll send you an invitation.

Google Classroom is not a gradebook. I use the grading feature in Google Classroom to provide immediate feedback to students and checks for understanding. Students should receive a notification and email when I 'grade' something in our google classroom. Not every single assignment in Google Classroom will be entered into our Skyward gradebook. For grades and missing assignments, please check Skyward. You can also check the Calendar page on this site to see events and due dates.

Brief Overview

I teach 7th and 8th grade Project Lead The Way (PLTW) STEM Electives: Medical Detectives & Flight and Space, Energy and the Environment & Green Architecture, Design and Modeling & Automation and Robotics. Each elective choice is a semester long but will pivot to the new topic at the quarter date. For example, if your student is interested in taking Medical Detectives it will only be a quarter long and then switch over to Flight and Space at the quarter date. All of students stay with me as their teacher for the entire semester.

Additionally, I am the 6th grade Computer Fundamentals Teacher. This is part of the 6th grade rotational electives and is only a quarter long. Each group of students will rotate with their class to a new elective each quarter. Each class will rotate through Introductory Band, Choir, Art, Computer Fundamentals and/or Leadership. There are five different subjects and if you choose to do the rotational elective you will only receive four of the five at random.

Also, I am honored to be one of our FLL (First Lego League) Robotics Coaches along with Justin Mullen and Nichole Kealoha. The FLL season usually runs from September-December with practices 3 days a week. Tryouts are usually held within the first few weeks of school, all grades are welcome to try-out!! 2019-2020 we had 3 teams with 10 students per team along with 2 alternates per team. We will be updating our Robotics page periodically, please email us with any questions you may have.

We also offer a non-competitive Spring Robotics Club- Dates to be determined (historically April(ish)-June). All grades are welcome, no tryouts etc... just come and have fun! ! ! !
