Principal Bill Weis

Principal Bill WeisI am truly honored and excited to be back in the Tahoma School District and part of the Maple View community as a Golden Bear! I started my education journey in 1997 as a teacher in this same building I write this message in today. I have served in various roles throughout my educational career including high school science teacher, athletic coach, K-12 instructional coach, and middle school dean of students. The last two years I have served as an assistant principal in the Issaquah School District at Maywood Middle School. I have two daughters that have attended Tahoma schools since Kindergarten. My oldest Gracie will be a junior at THS and my youngest daughter Emmarie, will be a 5th grader at Cedar River Elementary School.  I am blessed to have planted roots in Maple Valley with my wife Jessica. She has been incredibly supportive of me through my journey and I am very thankful that as a counselor she gets to apply her licensed mental health training on me :)

I am also thankful for the wonderful legacy Mr. McGrath has left at Maple View and I am eager to build upon it.  I believe we will not be at our best at supporting our Maple View students without effectively listening to, building trust and partnering with them, their parents and the community.  I am currently working with Tahoma teachers, administrators and community members to plan for teacher-student engagement in the fall.  This is something our staff, students and community desperately seek. For incoming 6th grade parents, know that we have a group of dedicated staff members working right now to create and provide the best possible welcoming transition for your students.  I do not know the specifics of these right now, but I am committed to doing everything I can to maximize in-person engagement for all of our students and teachers.

Dean of Students Pam McKinney

Maple View Middle school is now in its fourth year, and we are learning things daily about how to come together to create the kind of community we are proud to be a part of.  Our emphasis is how to promote kindness, inclusiveness, and the idea that “everyone has a story” and it’s worth listening to. I am so looking forward to helping students learn about themselves as they are successful as well as when they make mistakes. Some of our best learning is when we experience failure. Our teachers are thoughtful, encouraging, hardworking, and dedicated to this process. I know that parents play an important role in how their students arrive every morning, how invested they feel in school, as well as helping them to discover where their skills will best support Maple View in becoming its "best self". Thank you for your support and positive input as we team together to help your students Become "Excellent, Accepting, Respectful, and Safe" members of our school and community.
